1. Try cold compress
Applying ice on the affected area works wonder to reduce the irritation and swelling in the affected area. Coldness reduces the inflammation and makes your skin numb for sometime which gives instant relief from the itchiness. Never forget to wrap the ice in a cloth. It works great as a mosquito bite home remedy unless you keep the ice directly in contact with the skin.
2. Oatmeal paste
Well, it’s time to grab oatmeal from your kitchen. Oatmeal contains compounds with anti – irritant qualities that give you relief from inflammation and itching. Make a paste of oatmeal and water mixing in equal ratio and apply in the affected area for about 10 minutes or so for relief. Oatmeal bath can also help you to reduce irritation.
3. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is famous for its anti – bacterial and anti – inflammatory properties. It can help to calm down the inflammation in your wounds and also reduce the infection. Applying few drops of Aloe Vera gel in the affected area can get you out of the irritation and inflammation.

6. Using the baking soda
The baking soda you find in your kitchen is also a good mosquito bite home remedy. It neutralizes the pH value in your skin and helps in providing relief. What you need to do is mix some amount of baking soda with water, sufficient enough to make a paste, and apply it on the affected area with the help of cotton or a cloth. Leave it for about 10 – 15 minutes for best results.
7. Onion and garlic
Onion and garlic has anti – bacterial and antiseptic properties that helps in soothing the swelling, inflammation and itching in the skin. Both of these home remedies have similar effect for mosquito bites. Apply slices of onion or garlic paste in the mosquito bitten area for getting relief. Wash it after sometime.
8. Basil leaves
Basil leaves contain a chemical substance called eugenol that helps in relieving itchy skin and reduces inflammation. Boil 2 -3 leaves of basil leaves in a glass of water and rub gently on the bitten area when it cools down.
9. Tea tree oil
When it comes to bacterial infection, tea tree oil surely works with its antiseptic properties which not only reduces swelling but also relieves you from the allergic and irritating sensation. All you need to do is dab a piece of cotton in some tea tree oil and apply on the mosquito bite. In case of allergic reaction or irritation with tea tree oil, it is highly not recommended.
Another mosquito bite home remedy for reducing the itchiness is applying toothpaste. Using toothpaste with helping ingredients like menthol, peppermint and baking soda is an additional tip to minimize the swelling and itchiness.
